Comotomo Baby Bottle Review – Makes Switching to Formula Easy

If you’ve ever tried to wean a baby off of breastmilk, then you know that choosing the right bottle is just as important, if not more important, than choosing the formula that goes in it.

One of the only bottles on the market that I’ve found that makes this transition easier is this Stellar baby bottle from Comotomo.

Overview - Comotomo Bottle

This uniquely designed baby bottle is meant to mimic the female breast as closely as possible – at least from a baby’s perspective. The nipple and the bottle are both really soft and squeezable, which is one reason that babies love it. It seems like a small thing, but when you’re trying to convince your baby to eat, a bottle that mimics the slope, look and feel of a mother’s breast is important.

The bottle promises to be the easiest, most effective transitional bottle that you will ever use, and by all indications, it delivers. This is great for mothers that are worried about the transition from breast to bottle, or for mothers that have struggled with using a conventional bottle. However, it is a bit on the pricier side, so if you go through bottles really fast, this may not be the right choice for you.

One thing that I really like about this bottle is how it separates the air from the milk. This means that babies can get all of the A, C, and E vitamins from the formula. Plus, this feature reduces gas, bloating and the need to burp.

Key Features

Let’s go over some of the best features of this terrific transition bottle.

Material

The material used to make the Comotomo bottle is wonderful. It is medical grade silicone, which experts say is the only type of silicone bottle that you should use. This bottle is high quality and free of BPA, PVC or Phthalates. This is a safe bottle with excellent construction and a winning design.

Capacity

The capacity is really important here, because it doesn’t just determine how much formula you can put into the bottle. The 5-ounce bottle is the only one specifically designed for stage 1 – transitioning from breastmilk to formula. You shouldn’t go with the larger sizes unless your baby is at least six months old because too much milk comes out of the larger bottle nipples.

Mimic Ability

The ability to mimic a human breast is the best features of this bottle. It is silicone and both the nipple and the bottle itself are soft and flexible, and made to feel like a mother’s breast. This makes it really easy for your baby to transition from one to the other.

Ease of Use

One of my favorite things about this bottle is how easy it is to use. Not only is it easy to clean, thanks to the wide mouth that will easily fit a bottle brush, but it is also dishwasher and microwave safe.

Plus, since it is flexible, you can just push upward and you don’t have to reach into the bottle with your brush to get the corners.

It is nice that you can set this down and open it with one hand, but you do have to make sure that you put the rubber ring on correctly or this bottle might leak.

Alternatives to the Comotomo

This is one of the best alternatives to the Comotomo and probably the only one that actually compares in quality. This Mimijumi not only mimics the feel of a nipple, it also has a large, wide nipple that is the same color as a mother’s breast.

These bottles are a terrific budget option. While they may not be up to the same quality as the Comotomo and the Mimijumi, they may be just as effective as transition bottles.

This set of three bottles is great because they allow you to graduate your baby from the very smallest with the least amount of formula coming out to the larger ones that are not only higher capacity, but also give more milk.

Who Should Buy the Comotomo Bottle?

This bottle is perfect for mothers who want the best bottle out there to transition their child from breastfeeding to formula. It is also perfect for mothers who have tried other bottles and cannot get their babies to take them.

Because of how well this bottle mimics a mother’s breast, if you use the right formula with this bottle, you will very likely have success. This bottle costs more than what you might be used to paying, but I believe it is well worth it and I highly recommend it.
